Terms and acceptable use

1. Acceptance of terms

• These Terms govern use of the Ctoons website, reader, and related services ("Services").
• Accessing or using the Services constitutes agreement to these Terms.

2. Eligibility and account obligations

• Users must comply with applicable law in their jurisdiction.
• Account credentials must be protected against unauthorized use.
• Users remain responsible for activity performed through their account.

3. License scope

• Ctoons grants a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license for personal, non-commercial use.
• Any broader commercial or redistribution right requires written permission.
• Public sharing of limited Ctoons content is permitted only under the attribution rules in Section 5.3 below.

4. Prohibited activities

• Scraping, unauthorized automation, or reverse engineering.
• Security probing, fraud, abusive behavior, or payment misuse.
• Interference with service uptime, integrity, or user safety.

5. Intellectual property and submissions

5.1 Platform IP

• Story text, panel art, branding, and software are owned by Ctoons or its licensors.

5.2 User feedback

• Feedback may be used by Ctoons on a royalty-free basis for product improvement unless agreed otherwise in writing.

5.3 Content sharing and attribution policy

• Users may share story excerpts, panels, or screenshots for non-commercial purposes only.
• Required credit format: Source: Ctoons, plus the story or episode title and a link to the original Ctoons page where reasonably possible.
• If content is edited, adapted, cropped, translated, or remixed, the post must clearly state: Adapted from Ctoons (changes made).
• Users must not remove or obscure existing Ctoons branding, watermark, or ownership identifiers.
• Sharing permission does not transfer copyright, trademark rights, or any ownership interest in Ctoons content.
• Commercial use, paid distribution, merchandising, ad-based redistribution, bulk archive republishing, or dataset/training use requires prior written permission from Ctoons.
• Users may not imply endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or official affiliation by Ctoons without express written approval.

6. Payments and contributions

• Support payments are voluntary and used for content, operations, and service reliability.
• Contributions are generally final except where refunds are required by law or expressly approved.

7. Service availability and suspension

• Ctoons may modify, pause, or discontinue portions of the Services.
• Accounts may be suspended for suspected abuse, unlawful behavior, or security risk.
• Ctoons may request removal of uncredited or unauthorized reuploads and may restrict repeat violators.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

• Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, subject to applicable law.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ctoons is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from service use.

9. Updates to these terms

• Terms may be revised for legal or operational reasons.
• Continued use after updates means acceptance of revised terms.
